Over the last two years, we have had to adapt massively to the changes happening around the world and throughout the entertainment industry. So, not only did our clients have to change the way that they operated but for a small period, some things within the industry had to stop completely. For us as an agency, due to a range of state and nation-wide restrictions we had to pause our ‘chat- to -camera’ sessions.
However, now chat to camera sessions are back and we are so excited to finally have our talent getting this great opportunity once again. As a part of representation with Bettina Management every child who is over 4 years of age, gets the opportunity to participate in a ‘chat to camera’ session.
So, what is a chat to camera session?
At Bettina Management your chat to camera session is a complimentary session for your child to attend that includes learning a range of acting skills, audition skills and industry knowledge, which is perfect to help your little one be prepared and be one step ahead when it comes to auditioning for clients and working on set.
This session teaches them and lets them practice various skills such as the basics of a cold reading for a TV show or a film audition, posing and runway modelling and a range of improv games to teach kids how to react when put on the spot or asked to do something they aren’t prepared for in an audition. Then the sessions end with the opportunity to film their own Chat to Camera/Slate.
A Slate/ Chat to Camera is a short introduction often requested for self-tests and video auditions by clients – in addition to acting out a scene or performing a script. Generally, they just include the talent introducing themselves in a short 30-second video, by saying their name, age, height and agent.
It is the perfect addition to any child’s talent profile so that our clients can see how they speak & gauge their personalities. At Bettina Management we help the kids create these during their complimentary chat to camera sessions and this is just one of the great outcomes of our sessions.
But why are chat to camera sessions so important?
They are important for us as an agency, for our talent and for the clients. For our Bettina Management talent not only does it give the kids an extra opportunity to be a step ahead of their other competition, but if the child is new to the industry, it can calm their nerves. The session allows them to get used to being around new people, including adults that they need to perform their chat to camera in front of. This is great practice for future auditions and will make them feel more comfortable and less nervous when they do audition for an actual client.
It is also great for our talent managers at the agency, as they can quickly and easily see the personalities of the talent, so they know what kids can be put forward for briefs that are very specific or fit them perfectly. It also means that our talent manager doesn’t have to chase up every parent for information that can easily be found in a chat to camera.
Lastly, it is great for the clients because they can effortlessly be sent a chat to camera from our talent managers. From this they can easily see the child’s introduction, get to see their personality, and be sure that they are suitable for the brief, before requesting any further information or auditions. It cuts down on administration time throughout the whole casting process which is great for both the agency and the clients.
A chat to camera session is just one of the many amazing complimentary inclusions that come along with being represented by Bettina Management. And now that they are once again being hosted monthly across capital cities, this is your reminder to book your child into their chat to camera session if they are over 4 years old and represented by Bettina Management. This could be the next step in your child’s journey to stardom.
